FAQs About CBD (Part 1) Axis Labs CBD

With the passage of the 2014 and 2018 Farm Bills, hemp products have proliferated in the market. Now that more farms can cultivate hemp and more companies can utilize it in their work, new products have exploded onto the scene, and the public awareness of hemp, and it’s compound CBD, has expanded dramatically. But awareness isn’t the same as understanding, and as such, there are a lot of questions surrounding CBD and hemp oil. Since we produce some of the finest quality CBD products on the market, we at Axis Labs thought it best to offer some answers to your most pressing questions.

Aren’t CBD and THC the Same?

When people hear about cannabis products, their minds immediately jump to marijuana and its most notable compound, THC. Tetrahydrocannabinol, or THC, is a psychoactive compound that is found in higher concentrations in marijuana than in hemp. CBD, however, actually counteracts the effects of THC. CBD is found in all cannabis plants but can be found in much higher concentrations in hemp plants. These two compounds achieve different effects when taken in varying amounts and combinations.

So You Can’t Get "Stoned" On CBD?

Correct! CBD is a non-psychoactive compound within cannabis plants. In fact, there is so little THC in hemp that you can’t get high from it at all. Indeed, for it to be legal for agriculturalists to grow hemp in the U.S., that particular strain of hemp cannot have more than a 0.3 percent THC count. While you won’t feel stoned after using CBD, you might feel more relaxed and focused, and some have even reported finding relief from pain after using hemp oil products.

How Long Will I Feel the Effects of CBD?

This is a seemingly simple question with a kind-of complicated answer. The fact is, CBD affects everyone differently for different reasons. Generally, you’ll feel the effects of CBD for up to 12 hours after taking or using a hemp oil-based product. The duration of the effects will vary based on how much you take and in what concentration of CBD.

Is There a Risk of Overdosing on CBD?

With the near-constant news coverage of the opioid crisis, many people are now concerned about the threat of an overdose. A reasonable concern, but fortunately one you do not have to share when taking CBD. In 2011, a study found that even when subjects took more than 30 times the recommended dosage (for a total of 1,500 mg of CBD-based products in a day), that there was no sign of an overdose or adverse effects on the subject. That said, you might experience some side effects if you take too much of a hemp oil product.

Are There Side Effect to Using CBD?

When you take CBD products in a dosage that is tailored to your needs, you likely won’t experience any side effects. However, should you take too much in a day or a single dosage, you might experience some minor effects. These include things like:
  • Lowered blood pressure
  • Dry mouth
  • Nausea
  • Dizziness
  • Grogginess

These effects will fade with time.

Are CBD Products Safe?

Absolutely. At Axis Labs, we prioritize the quality of our CBD products by subjecting them to a rigorous battery of tests performed by a third-party lab. For those interested, you can find all of our lab results for each and every one of our products on our website.
